Be sure to pay close attention to how much space you want vs how much space you actually need. Along with the size of the living arrangement, pay close to attention to amenities included. Some great questions to ask would include:
- Are trash and water included in the monthly rent?
- How much electricity does it typically take to heat and cool this apartment?
- Is a bed, couch, and television included?
- Is WiFi and cable included?
Fully-furnished living spaces are becoming more and more common as time goes on, but that doesn’t mean you should make any assumptions. Seeing the word ‘furnished’ in an apartment listing does not necessarily mean everything is included. If you plan to move forward with a housing that includes furnishing, remember to cover these key necessities with your landlord:
